Abstract:Objective: To study the cardiac function of immature myocardium by high-frequency echocardiography in infant rabbit. Methods: Indices of left ventricular diastolic and systolic function were measured using M-mode and Doppler echocardiographic examinations. Stroke volume(SV), ejection fraction(EF), fraction shortening(FS) were measured and calculated. Mitral valve orifice flow velocity was recorded by Doppler flow imaging, peak early velocity(E) and late filling wave(A) were measured. DTI was applied in the pulsed wave Doppler mode to allow for a spectral display of the mitral annulus velocities, peak E wave of early diastolic(Ea) and peak A wave of late diastolic(Aa) at annulus were measured. Index myocardial performance(IMP) was calculated. Results: Left ventricular diastolic function was abnormal and systolic function was normal in infant rabbit. Conclusion: High-frequency echocardiography may be used to study the cardiac function on immature myocardium in infant rabbit.
