Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the value of magnetic source imaging(MSI) in localization of the epileptogenic foci in temporal lobe epilepsy(TLE) caused by hippocampal sclerosis(HS). Methods: Sixteen patients with HS were evaluated with magnetoencephalography(MEG) before surgical excision, whose epileptogenic foci were located by MSI. Results: In the follow-up according to Nanjing Military Hospital, 14 patients(87.5%) received satisfying curative effect; 1 patient(6.25%) was partially relieved and 1 patient(6.25%) got poor effect, with a total effective rate of 93%. The concordance of MSI and Video-EEG in localization of epileptogenic foci was 62.5%. Conclusion: MSI could be a new valuable noninvasive functional neuroimaging technique for identification and delineation of epileptogenic foci in presurgical evaluation.
