Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic value of MR imaging in inflammatory pseudotumor of the liver(IPL). Methods: The MR imaging features of 11 cases of IPLs proved by pathology were retrospectively reviewed and compared with pathologic findings. Results: Ten cases were diagnosed as benign lesions and one case mistaken for malignant tumors. Five were isointense and six were hypointense on T1WI. Three were hypointense and five were hyperintense and there were isointense on T2WI. None of the 10 IPL showed strong enhancement during arterial phase, only one showed mild enhancement; and moderate enhancement during portal venous phase and delayed phase. The feature of enhancement was multiple. Slight peripheral and eccentric enhancement during portal venous phase was detected in IPL. There was a few space in enhancement region and the peak of enhancement time was longer. Conclusion: The MR imaging findings of IPL are specific and it is possible that most of the IPL can be diagnosed combining with history.
