Abstract:Objective: To explore the value of the vena contracta(VC) method in quantitative diagnosis of eccentric mitral regurgitation(EMR). Methods: Sixty-three patients with EMR were studied with the continuity equation method and the VC method. And those results were analyzed in their correlation and regression based on the continuity equation method as a “reference standard”. Results: The results of the VC method had been found to have significant correlation(r>0.78, P<0.05) with the results of continuity equation method and been built the regression equations between them. Conclusion: The VC method can accurately quantify the EMR.
